The present study investigated the lipid content and FA profiles of total lipid, phospholipid (PL) and
triacylglycerol (TAG) of Capoeta trutta from the Atatürk Dam Lake. The major saturated fatty acids (SFAs) were
palmitic acid (C16:0) and stearic acid (18:0). Oleic acid (18:1n-9) and palmitoleic acid (16:1n-7) were the prominent
monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs). The dominant polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) were eicosapentaenoic
acid (EPA, 20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3) in both tissues. The distributions of ΣSFAs,
ΣMUFAs and ΣPUFAs proportions were found to be different among phospholipid (PL) and triacylglycerol (TAG)
fractions. TAG contained a lower proportion of ΣPUFA, but a higher proportion of ΣMUFA and ΣSFA than PL.
The ratio of n-3/n-6 was 5.95 in muscle tissue. C. trutta is economically important fish considering n-3 fatty acids
and n-3/n-6 ratios.
