THE EFFECT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT ON JOB SATISFACTION: A RESEARCH ON CONSTRUCTION SECTOR EMPLOYEES

Abstract

In this study, which determines the idea that psychologically strong personnel will be more satisfied with the work they will do, as the main motivation source, it is aimed to examine the effect of psychological empowerment on job satisfaction. For this purpose, employees working in the construction sector in Ankara were selected as a sample. The questionnaires applied to 201 people were analyzed and inferences were made about the subject. Multivariate regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses in the study based on two main hypotheses. According to the findings obtained from the regression analysis, it was concluded that all sub-dimensions of psychological empowerment had a positive effect on internal satisfaction, one of the sub-dimensions of job satisfaction. Likewise, it was concluded that meaningfulness, impact and autonomy, which are the sub-dimensions of psychological empowerment, have a positive effect on external satisfaction, which is the sub-dimensions of job satisfaction.

Abstract

İşletmelerde psikolojik açıdan güçlü personelin yapacağı işten daha yüksek düzeyde memnuniyet duyacağı fikrini temel motivasyon kaynağı olarak belirleyen bu çalışmada psikolojik güçlendirmenin iş tatmini üzerindeki etkisini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla Ankara’da inşaat sektöründe faaliyet gösteren çalışanlar örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. 201 kişiye uygulanan anketler analiz edilerek konu hakkında çıkarımlarda bulunulmuştur. İki temel hipoteze dayanan araştırmada hipotezleri test etmek için çok değişkenli regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Regresyon analizinden elde edilen bulgulara göre psikolojik güçlendirme alt boyutlarının tamamının iş tatmini alt boyutlarından içsel tatmin üzerinde pozitif yönde etkili olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Yine aynı şekilde psikolojik güçlendirme alt boyutlarından anlamlılık, etki ve özerkliğin iş tatmini alt boyutlarından dışsal tatmin üzerinde pozitif yönde bir etkisi olduğu sonucuna da ulaşılmıştır.
