Çalışanlar Perspektifinden Liderlik Stilleri ile Narsisizm Arasındaki İlişki Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Liderlik üzerine yürütülen çalışmalar günümüzde örgütsel manada hızla artmaktadır. Kamu sektörü ve özel sektörde liderliğin etkileri ve öneminin daha belirgin bir şekilde anlaşılması amacıyla yürütülen çalışmalar ile, liderliğe yönelik farklı inceleme alanları da ortaya çıkmaktadır. Ayrıca liderlik kişilik özellikleri ve kişilik bozuklukları özelinde yapılan çalışmalarda örgütsel davranış alanında kendine yer bulmaktadır.
Bu durumdan yola çıkılarak çalışanlar perspektifinden liderlik stilleri ile narsisizm arasında olası bir ilişkinin ele alınması amacıyla bu çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada ihtiyaç duyulan verilerin toplanması için anket yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Kamu ve özel sektör çalışanlarından 427 kişi çalışamaya katılım göstermiş, boş ve hatalı formların elenmesinden sonra 381 katılımcının anket formları analize tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırmada Bass (1985) tarafından geliştirilmiş olan ve Akdoğan (2002) tarafından Türkçe uyarlaması gerçekleştirilen Çok Faktörlü Liderlik Ölçeği ve Jonason ve Webster (2010) tarafından geliştirilen, sonrasında Özsoy vd. (2017) tarafından Türkçe uyarlaması gerçekleştirilen Karanlık Üçlü ölçeğinin narsisizmi ölçmek amacıyla hazırlanmış alt maddelerinden faydalanılmıştır.
Liderlik stilleri ile narsisizm arasındaki ilişkinin çalışanlar perspektifinden incelenmesi adına yürütülen bu çalışmada, korelasyon analizi yapılarak liderlik stilleri ile narsisizm arasında bir ilişkinin olup olmadığı belirlenmeye odaklanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre etkileşimci, dönüşümcü ve laissez-faire liderlik stilleri ile narsisizm arasında anlamlı istatistiki ilişkilere ait bulgulara ulaşılmıştır.

A STUDY ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEADERSHIP STYLES AND NARCISSISM FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF EMPLOYEES

Abstract

Today, studies on leadership are increasing rapidly in organisational terms. With the studies carried out in order to understand the effects and importance of leadership in the public and private sectors more clearly, different fields of study on leadership are emerging. In addition, studies on leadership personality traits and personality disorders find a place in the field of organisational behaviour.
Based on this situation, this study was carried out in order to address a possible relationship between leadership styles and narcissism from the perspective of employees. The survey method was used to collect the data needed in the study. A total of 427 public and private sector employees participated in the study, and the questionnaire forms of 381 participants were analysed after the elimination of blank and incorrect forms. In the study, the Multifactor Leadership Scale developed by Bass (1985) and adapted into Turkish by Akdoğan (2002) and the sub-items of the Dark Triad scale developed by Jonason and Webster (2010) and adapted into Turkish by Özsoy et al. (2017) were used to measure narcissism.
This study, which was conducted to examine the relationship between leadership styles and narcissism from the perspective of employees, focused on determining whether there is a relationship between leadership styles and narcissism through correlation analysis. According to the findings, significant statistical relationships were found between transactional, transformational and laissez-faire leadership styles and narcissism.
