Kullanıcıların Elektronik Kitap Görüntüleyicilerinde Bulunan Özellikler Hakkındaki Düşünceleri

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı çeşitli yaş ve özelliklere sahip elektronik kitap görüntüleyici (EKG) kullanıcılarının, EKG’lerin özelliklerine dayanarak, EKG kullanım sebeplerini belirlemek ve tespit edilen sebeplerin kullanıcıların kişisel özelliklerine göre anlamlı farklılıklar gösterip göstermediğini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmanın verileri 82 lisans ve daha ileri düzey eğitim seviyesine sahip EKG kullanıcısından toplanmıştır. Katılımcılara EKG’lerin teknik, taşınabilirlik ve erişim özellikleri ile ilgili sorular sorulmuş ve bu özelliklerin EKG kullanımlarına ne kadar sebep oldukları irdelenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin anlamlandırılmasında t-test ve ANOVA istatistiksel analizleri kullanılmıştır. Buna göre EKG’lerin taşınabilir özelliği genel olarak kullanıcıların EKG’leri basılı kitaplara tercih etmelerinin en önemli sebebi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kullanıcıların kişisel özellikleri EKG kullanım sebepleri ile ilişkilendirildiğinde, her gün EKG kullanan veya akademik amaçla EKG kullanan kullanıcıların EKG’lerin sahip olduğu teknik ve erişim özelliklerinin kullanımlarına etkisinin diğer kullanıcılara göre daha fazla olduğu bulunmuştur. Kullanıcılar, bazı özel durumlarda kullanılan ve sınırlı kullanıcı kitlesini ilgilendiren bazı özellikleri (yazıdan sese dönüştürme, EKG’den çıktı alabilme, vb.) ise kullanımlarına ciddi birer sebep olarak görmemektedirler

The Perceptions of Users’ on eBook Readers’ Features

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate eBook reader (ER) users’ perceptions on eBook readers’ features and explore how users’ opinions differ based on their personal characteristics. The sample of the study was 82 ER users who had at least a bachelor’s degree. In order to figure out the reasons of using ERs, participants were asked several questions about technical, mobility, and access features of ERs. The collected data was analyzed with t-test and ANOVA. As a result, it was found that mobility features of ERs are the most important reasons for users to prefer using an ER. When users’ personal characteristics were considered, it was found that, users who use an ER in daily basis or for an academic purpose, use ERs’ technical and access features more than other users. Results also show that users don't tend to use very specific features of ERs such as text to speech and printing
