Ihsan Hun’s Book of Military History and its Place in Military Historiography

Abstract

In
this article, the general lines of military historiography are mentioned
briefly. Popular, professional and academic types of military historiography
have been described, which vary according to their purpose and content. In the
foundation of the study is İhsan Hün, who had been an officer in the Ottoman
period, participated in the Turkish war of independence and continued to be an
officer in the Republic Period, had a military history book and a military
history writing conception. İhsan Hün gave one of the first examples of
military historiography in the Republican Era. This book has been examined and
it has been shown how Istanbul's conquest is handled. It is seen that the work
constitutes a good example of ”professional military historiography”. Thus,
İhsan Hün and his understanding of history were tried to be introduced to
readers.

İhsan Hün’ün Askeri Tarih Adlı Eseri ve Askeri Tarih Yazımındaki Yeri

Abstract

Bu
makalede öncelikle askeri tarih yazımının genel hatlarına kısaca değinilmiştir.
Yazım amaçlarına ve içeriklerine göre birbirlerinden değişiklik gösteren
popüler, profesyonel ve akademik askeri tarihçilik türleri tanımlanmıştır.
Çalışmanın temelinde, önce Osmanlı Devri’nde subaylık yapmış, Milli Mücadele’ye
katılmış ve Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde de subaylığa devam etmiş olan İhsan Hün’ün ‘Askerî
Tarih’ kitabı ve askeri tarih yazım anlayışı vardır. İhsan Hün, Cumhuriyet
Dönemi’ndeki askeri tarihçiliğin ilk örneklerinden birisini vermiştir. Bu kitap
tetkik edilmiş, İstanbul’un Fethi konusunun nasıl ele alındığı gösterilmiştir.
Eserin, söz konusu askeri tarihçilik türlerinden ‘profesyonel askeri tarihçiliğe”
iyi bir örnek teşkil ettiği görülmüştür. Böylece İhsan Hün ve tarih anlayışı
okurlara tanıtılmaya çalışılmıştır.
