Coaches and Athletes’ Views on Professional Ethics Behaviors of Trainers

Abstract

In this study, coaching professional ethics of the trainers were discussed. Quantitative method was used in the research. The study is a survey research. The population of the research consists of people who have a coaching certificate and athletes licensed in these branches. The sample consisted of 391 trainers and 411 athletes. As a data collection tool, the Professional Ethics Behavior Scale of Trainers developed by Kayır and Özbek (2019) was used. The skewness and kurtosis values of the data were examined. It was observed that the data were not distributed normally and therefore non-parametric tests were used. Mann Whitney U test was used for paired groups and Kruskall-Wallis test for more than two groups. According to the results of the research, trainers and athletes think differently about showing behaviors in accordance with the professional ethics of the trainers. The athletes with higher sports age and higher education level stated that their coaches obey the professional ethics less than the athletes with lower sports age and lower education level. Female trainers stated that they comply with professional ethics more than male trainers.

Antrenörlerin Meslek Etiği Davranışlarına İlişkin Antrenör ve Sporcu Görüşleri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada antrenörlerin antrenörlük meslek etiği ele alınmıştır. Araştırmada nicel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırma tarama modelindedir. Araştırmanın evreni, antrenörlük belgesine sahip kişiler ile bu branşlarda lisanslı sporculardan oluşmuştur. Örneklem ise, 391 antrenör ve 411 sporcudan oluşmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak Kayır ve Özbek (2019) tarafından geliştirilen Antrenörlerin Meslek Etiği Davranışları Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin çarpıklık ve basıklık değerlerine bakılmıştır. Verilerin normal dağılmadığı görülmüş ve bu nedenle non-parametrik testler kullanılmıştır. İkili gruplar için Mann Whitney U testi, ikiden fazla gruplar için Kruskall-Wallis testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, antrenör ve sporcular, antrenörlerin meslek etiğine uygun davranışlar gösterme konusunda farklı düşünmektedirler. Spor yaşı büyük ve eğitim düzeyi daha yüksek olan sporcular, spor yaşı küçük olan ve eğitim düzeyi daha az sporculara göre, antrenörlerin meslek etiğine daha az uyduklarını belirtmiştir. Kadın antrenörler, erkek antrenörlere göre meslek etiğine daha çok uyduklarını belirtmiştir.
