Abstract
The concept of family, which is the smallest structure of society, is one of the leading institutions in which the effects and results of material and spiritual changes and transformations in societies can be clearly observed. Starting from this context, this study, which examines the family institution in the Ottoman society through the example of Rodoscuk, emphasizes the family life in Rodoscuk in the last quarter of the eighteenth century and the first quarter of the nineteenth century. In this study six records of Rhodoscuk sharia registers belonging to the years "1785-1810" are used as the main source; first of all, family structure in Rodoscuk; family types, sovereignty principle, number of spouses were examined separately and then the basic dynamics of the family institution such as marriage, divorce, alimony, inheritance and testament are touched. In the study; it has been determined that there are many similarities in family life of Muslim and non-Muslim subjects in the current settlement.
