THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE “EDGE EFFECT” CAUSED BY THE INTERACTION OF DIFFERENCES TO ORGANIZATIONAL INNOVATION

Abstract

Innovation is the most powerful tool to gain competitive advantage among rivals. Organizations are searching for the ways to create more innovative and creative ideas. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of information exchange and the willingness of senior managers to share information with people outside their organization. Then use this information to build a model that can enable to benefit from the edge effect caused by the discussions of different individuals who comes from different disciplines on a specific subject, by using the non-governmental organizations established by businessman. Also to point at the benefits of sharing ideas by showing some examples from practice. Qualitative research methods were used, grounded theory and case study were applied in this study. Data was collected by using three different methods and analyzed with the help of computer-based program.

Abstract

Üretimin ve beraberinde rekabetin artışı, işletmelerin rakiplerinin önüne geçmek için yeni fikirlere, yeni yöntemlere ihtiyaç duymasına sebep olmuştur. Yeni ve yaratıcı fikirlerin ortaya çıkması için işletmeler çeşitli yöntemlere başvurmuş, yenilikçiliği teşvik etmişlerdir. Bu çalışmada, iş insanlarının, farklı disiplinlerden gelen bireylerin bir sorunun çözümü veya yeni bir fikrin tartışılması ile ilgili fikir alışverişlerinden ortaya çıkacak kenar etkisi ile ilgili ne kadar fikir sahibi oldukları tartışılmış ve iş insanlarının kurmuş olduğu STK’ların yönetim kurullarına kenar etkisinden faydalanabilmeleri için öneriler sunulmuştur. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemleri kullanılmış, gömülü kuram ve örnek olay tasarımlarına başvurulmuştur. Üç farklı yöntemle veri toplanarak QDA Miner programı yardımı ile analiz edilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda ise iş insanlarına üyesi oldukları STK’lar aracılığı ile kenar etkisinden faydalanabilmeleri için öneriler sunulmuştur.
