Abstract

İnsanlık tarihinde birçok toplum, çeşitli belalar ve musibetlerle karşı karşıya kalmıştır. Tevrat’ta Mısır halkının başına gelen on bela dizisi bu felaketlerden birisidir. Bu araştırmada on bela anlatısının teolojik, kültürel, tarihî ve bilimsel bağlamda kapsamlı bir analizinin sunulması amaçlanmaktadır. Belaların firavun ve Mısır halkı üzerindeki etkileri detaylandırılmış ve Mısır tanrılarıyla olan ilişkisi tartışılmıştır. Bela dizisi, Tevrat, Talmud ve Midraşik edebiyat bağlamında incelenmiştir. Literatürdeki sınıflandırma ve gruplama şekillerine göre her belanın Mısır tanrılarıyla olan ilişkisi analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca, bu belaların bilimsel olarak nasıl meydana geldiğine dair açıklamalar sunulmuş ve doğal fenomenler tartışılmıştır. Mevcut kutsal metinler derinlemesine incelenerek metin analizi yapılmıştır. Her bir bela, türüne göre tematik bir sınıflandırmaya tabi tutulmuş ve kategorize edilmiştir. Tevrat’ta yer alan metinler tarihsel ve bağlamsal yorumlamaya tabi tutulmuştur. Tevrat ve diğer Yahudi metinleri arasında karşılaştırma yapılarak sembolik anlamlar ve metaforlar çözümlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, on belanın yalnızca dinî bir anlatı olarak değil, aynı zamanda tarihsel, kültürel ve bilimsel bağlamda da önemli bir yer tuttuğu ortaya konulmuştur.

The Ten Plagues that Befell the People of Egypt According to the Torah

Abstract

Throughout human history, many societies have faced various troubles and calamities. The series of ten plagues that befell the Egyptian people in the Torah is one of these disasters. This study aims to present a comprehensive analysis of the narrative of the ten plagues in theological, cultural, historical and scientific contexts. The effects of the plagues on the pharaoh and the Egyptian people are detailed and their relationship with the Egyptian gods is discussed. The series of plagues is examined in the context of the Torah, Talmud and Midrashic literature. The relationship of each plague with the Egyptian gods is analyzed according to the classification and grouping methods in the literature. In addition, explanations are provided on how these plagues occur scientifically and natural phenomena are discussed. Existing sacred texts are examined in depth and textual analysis is conducted. Each plague is subjected to a thematic classification and categorization according to its type. The texts in the Torah are subjected to historical and contextual interpretation. Comparisons are made between the Torah and other Jewish texts and symbolic meanings and metaphors are analyzed. As a result, it has been revealed that the ten plagues have an important place not only as a religious narrative but also in historical, cultural and scientific contexts.
