Turkish Folk Dances are examples of traditional dances where music and moves are inextricably connected. Just as thoughts and emotions are represented through moves in dance, they are represented through sounds in music. In this context, both support each other.
Every traditional dance or music evolves throughout time with the contribution of everything that the society, in which it exists, has to offer. The physical manifestations of music and moves are found in the soil, water, and air of the habitat, as well as, in the colors people here have accumulated and created over the course of their lifetimes. Over time, this manifestation like every product of traditional culture, acquires an anonymous value as a result of being transferred from one generation to the next.
On the one hand, dance, which has its origins in many different sorts of rituals, is a form of expression used in today's local communities to celebrate a variety of important occasions, including marriage or circumcision ceremonies, sending off soldiers for military duty, and traditional festivals. On the other hand, Turkish Folk Dances are also accepted and performed as a form of performance art, especially in big cities. This phenomenon further highlights the fact that many things have evolved through time. The perspective we choose to use to examine these evolutions will determine what they really are.
This article will examine Turkish folk dances through the lens of the link between moves and music, giving us a new perspective on the traditions that have been followed or are being attempted to be followed rotely up to this point, as well as an understanding of the changes that are occurring in today's world.

Using various figure examples, the figure-music equation has been used to examine the relationship between movement and music in Turkish Folk Dances, which have maintained their value through time due to their dynamic structure and also due to their anonymous structure that has been passed down from generation to generation. A further purpose is to clarify the topic by providing numerous examples to illustrate regular and irregular dance structures, or figures.
Understanding the mathematics underlying figure-music dissonance makes harmonizing it in irregular structures possible and simple. In this regard, a few sample recommendations for the configuration of irregular dance structures are also presented in the Conclusion and Recommendations section.
The article employed dance analysis as a methodology and perspective to assess Turkish Folk Dances in terms of the relationship between moves and music. Dance analysis is a well-established methodology that has been used in the ITU TMDK Turkish Folk Dances Department for many years.

Bu beraberinde pek çok şeyin farklılaştığı gerçeğini de ortaya koymaktadır. Bu farklılaşmaların neler olduğu, hangi açıdan bakıldığına bağlı olarak değişir.
Bu bağlamda makale Türk Halk Oyunlarına hareket müzik ilişkisi açısından bakarak bu sayede bugüne kadar ezbere, el yordamıyla yapılan ya da yapılmaya çalışılan uygulamaları farklı bir gözle görebilmeyi ve günümüzde yaşanan değişimleri algılayabilmeyi sağlayacaktır.
