Abstract
Van Lake Watershed is an important geo-strategic value of Turkey. However, it is less developed than other watershed. In order to development of watershed, administrative problems should be investigated and these problems should be revealed. Therefore, this study aims to present the available administration problems of Van Lake Watershed.
The topic of the study is the problems of Lake Van Watershed administration In order to determine the problems, firstl, in the other watersheds administrative problems were investigated. This examination arising from the available public administration system in Turkey has revealed common problems. Then the problems which are arising from the unique structure of the Van Lake Watershed are explained. In this context, the administrative problems of the Watershed; administrative issues, legal problems, security issues and other problems are examined under four headings. As a result of this study, it is understood that the administrative problems of the Van Lake Basin are due to the lack of coordination between the multi-actor structure and the lack of legislation such as water framework law.
In this study, qualitative data collection method is used by document analysis. The study of theoretically, administrative problems is unique because it is the first study that examines the administrative problems of the Van Lake Watershed. In addition, there are few studies on administration for other basins. Therefore, this study is expected to make a significant contribution to science as a guide to both watershed management research and Van Lake Watershed surveys.
