Gastric cancer is the fourth most prevalent tumor and second most frequent cause of cancer related mortality in the world. Intestinal metaplasia is a precancerous lesion, which increases the risk of gastric cancer 6-times. Gastric hyperplastic polyp is the most common polypoid lesion in Turkey, detected during endoscopy, usually known as a benign lesion. Although hyperplastic polyps may contain precancerous lesions and may play a role in gastric cancer onset. A 71-year-old female patient was admitted to our outpatient clinic with dyspeptic complaints. Patient underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Polypectomy was performed from the gastroesophageal junction and a hyperplastic polyp with foci of incomplete type intestinal hiperplasia was detected. The aim of our case report is to underline that gastric hyperplastic polyps may be precancerous lesions.
Mide kanseri dünyada 4. en sık görülen tümördür ve kansere bağlı ölümlerde 2. sırada yer alır. İntestinal metaplazi prekanseröz bir lezyondur, mide kanseri riskini 6 kat arttırır. Mide hiperplastik polibi Türkiyede, endoskopiyle tespit edilen en sık polipoid lezyondur, genellikle benign lezyon olarak bilinir. Bununla birlikte hiperplastik polipler prekanseröz olabilir ve mide kanseri gelişiminde rol alabilirler. 71 yaşında kadın hasta dispeptik şikayetlerle polikliniğimize başvurdu. Hastaya üst gastrointestinal sistem endoskopisi yapıldı. Gastroözofageal bileşkeden yapılan polipektomi sonucunda inkomplet tip intestinal metaplazi odağı içeren hiperplastik polip tespit ettik. Vaka sunumumuzun amacı mide hiperplastik poliplerinin prekanseröz lezyonlar olabileceğinin altını çizmektir.
