Pandemi Sürecinde İnsidental Olarak Saptanan Pulmoner Aspergilloz Olgularının Radyolojik ve Patolojik Korelasyonu

Year 2024, Volume: 16 Issue: 1, 1 - 6, 30.04.2024

Abstract

Radiological and Pathological Correlation of Pulmonary Aspergillosis Cases During The Pandemic

Year 2024, Volume: 16 Issue: 1, 1 - 6, 30.04.2024

Abstract

Objective: Pulmonary Aspergillosis usually develops as a result of colonization in previously formed lung cavities. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the compatibility with Computed tomography (CT) findings in cases with a retrospective histopathological diagnosis of Aspergillosis.
Materials and Methods: CT scans of 17 patients with histopathological diagnosis of Aspergillosis at SBU Van Training and Research Hospital between 2020 and 2023 were examined.
Results: All cases applied to the clinic with the suspicion of Covid-19 such as shortness of breath and cough. Histomorphologically, fungal hyphae and spore structures were detected in Hematoxylin and Eosin stains and with PAS and Giemsa stains. The most common location is the upper lobe, and the most common findings on imaging are cavitary and nodular lesions.
Conclusion: In conclusion, CT imaging has been evaluated as a non-invasive, easy and reliable method in the diagnosis and treatment of Aspergillosis.
