Performance measurement and audit is one of the
important topics in reforming public administration. With the principles of new
public management approach such as accountability, transparency,
result-oriented, efficiency, efficiency and economy, the importance of performance
auditing in all areas from the use of resources to the evaluation of human
resources is increasing. Local governments are also working on this. This study
will try to determine the positive and negative aspects about the performance
audit of local government reform in Turkey. In addition, in order to contribute
to the discussions on the subject, performance audit and the benefits of
municipalities will be emphasized and a performance audit model that can be
implemented will be discussed.
