Abstract
As Turkey is one of the 13 candidate countries for EU membership, we believe this paper will be useful for the readers to obtain valuable information about the current situation of post-graduate studies in Turkey, taking into account the Institute of Social Sciences of Marmara University. The fırst section of the paper begins with the issues regarding the current higher educational system, its content and admissions. The mission and vision, governing bodies, admission of students, programs, research facilities and publications held in the Institute of Social Sciences of Marmara University follow a brief look into the structure of post-graduate studies in Turkey. Finally, the weak and strong sides of the Institute and their effect in the making of strategic policies have been touched on.
