Abstract
Social media is a very up-to-date and technology-based communication channel used in the provision of communication goals of whether for profit or not businesses, individuals and the public. As higher education institutions universities and rectors use social media extensively communicate with their stakeholders. This study aims to evaluate the use of Twitter, Instagram and Facebook by public and foundation university rectors using the MABAC method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision-making techniques. In the application process of the MABAC method, the ranking criteria were determined as “number of followers, number of posts, number of likes and average likes” and with equal weight. As a result of the study, in terms of the rectors of public universities, it is seen that on “Twitter” Prof. Melih Bulu, and “Instagram and Facebook” Prof. Nihat Hatipoglu appear to be in the first place. In terms of foundation universities rectors; on Twitter Prof. Yasar Hacisalihoglu; on Instagram Prof. Şahin Karasar and on Facebook Prof. Turkay Dereli appear to be in the first place. Rectors who rank among the top five in all three social media platforms have been determined as Prof. Nihat Hatipoğlu and Prof. F.S. Nukhet Hotar.
