Abstract
With the come to power of Hugo Chávez in 1998, Venezuela began a radical transformation. This radical transformation called by Chávez as the Bolivarian Revolution has led to many political, economic and social changes in the country. This situation has also had implications for Venezuela's foreign policy. The multilateral vision of foreign policy, the anti-imperialist/anti-US stance and the moves against neoliberal policies, which were implemented during the Chávez period, are being tried and implemented also in Maduro period. The situation that emerged as a result of the change in Venezuela after these developments adversely affects the US in many areas. For this reason, the US needed some policies that to protect its economic interests in Venezuela, to prevent the spread of anti-US tendency in the region and to protect its hegemony in Latin America and she has implemented these policies. Thus, the relations between the US and Venezuela have become very tense over time. Venezuela has carried out actions and practices that will be evaluated as negative for the US through alliance relations in foreign policy, political, social and economic programs and policies implemented in the country. However, the United States; has intervened in Venezuela using various means of intervention and continues to intervene. In this respect, the cases of intervention and external intervention have come to the agenda in terms of the relations of these two countries. For this reason, the developments between Venezuela and the US were evaluated within the scope of the phenomenon of external intervention.
