RESEARCH FOR DETERMINING APPLICATION EFFICIENCY OF STANDARD ON QUALITY CONTROL IN EXTERNAL AUDIT FIRMS: CASE STUDY OF TURKEY

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to determine the application efficiency of standard of quality control in the external audit firms. The population of the research includes 112 external audit firms authorized by Public Oversight Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority in Turkey. At the end of the data collection process, the questionnaire forms were collected from 57 external audit firm. Herewith, the effectiveness of the quality control systems of audit firms is generally sufficient but there are some problems at the leadership responsibilities. Finally, based on the results, some improvements in the efficiency of practice of SQC-1 in audit firms have been suggested.

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, bağımsız denetim şirketlerinde kalite kontrol standardının uygulama etkinliğini tespit etmektedir. Araştırmanın ana kütlesini Türkiye’deki 112 bağımsız denetim şirketi oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama süreci sonunda 57 bağımsız denetim şirketinden geri dönüş sağlanmıştır. Araştırmada, bağımsız denetim şirketlerindeki kalite kontrol sistemlerinin etkinliğinin genel olarak yeterli düzeyde olduğu ancak liderlik sorumluluğunun yerine getirilmesinde sorunlar yaşandığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Son olarak elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda bağımsız denetim şirketlerinde KKS-1’in uygulama etkinliğinin artırılması için öneriler sunulmuştur.
