Abstract

Kurumsal yönetim alanında öncü olan bankalar, kurumsal yönetimin temel ilkelerinden birisi olan şeffaflık aracılığıyla paydaşlarıyla iletişim sağlamaktadırlar. Kurumsal yönetim teorilerine göre, pay-daşlarla ilişkilerin olumlu olmasının finansal performansı ve kârlılığı arttıracağı öngörülmektedir. Bu çalışma, “Gerçekten şeffaflık bankaların kârları üzerinde olumlu etkide bulunuyor mu?” sorusunu istatistiki olarak araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonuçları, halka açık bankaların şeffaflık düzeyleri ile kârlılık oranları arasında anlamlı ve pozitif bir ilişki bulunduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre; halka açık bankaların şeffaflık düzeyi, pozitif yönde en çok ROE’yi ve vergi öncesi kârı içeren kârlılık oranlarını etkilemektedir.
