A Rare Case: Congenital Facial Paralysis

Abstract

Facial paralysis is the paralysis of the facial nerve that
innervates the mimic muscles. The facial paralysis is a rare condition in the
neonatal period, and can be occur developmentally or traumatically. Although
the most common cause is trauma during delivery, it may be observed in
association with genetic syndromes and inner-ear structural abnormalities-.
Congenital asymmetric crying face caused by unilateral hypoplasia or aplasia of
depressor anguli oris muscle should also be considered in differential diagnosis.
Patients, who had trauma during delivery, generally recover in several weeks
spontaneously. However, prognosis is poor in facial paralysis cases with
congenital developmental defects compared to traumatic ones. Here, we present a
case with congenital facial paralysis and finger abnormality.

Nadir Bir Olgu: Konjenital Fasiyal Paralizi

Year 2017, , 96 - 98, 15.07.2017

Abstract

Fasiyal paralizi mimik kaslarını innerve eden fasiyal
sinirin felcidir.
