Abstract Nonpharmacological Methods for Management of Labor Pain Labour pain is such a condition that is influenced by neurophysiological, biochemical, psychogenic, ethnocultural, religious, cognitive, emotional and environmental factors. In other words, it is a defence mechanism of the body against an internal and external stimuli. Following the involvement of a physiological mechanism, it should be considered from a broad perspective during the time period of which psychological mechanisms become effective by the influence of environmental factors. The techniques that reduce the pain while maintaining the health conditions of mother and fetus at the best level should be implemented effectively. In this article, it was aimed to review the current information on nonpharmacological approaches for management of labor pain.
Türkçe Özet: Doğum ağrısı, nörofizyolojik, biyokimyasal, psikojenik, etnokültürel, inançsal, bilişsel, ruhsal ve çevresel birçok faktörün etkisinde olan bir durumdur. Bir başka tanımlamayla bedenin içten ve dıştan bir uyarı karşısında gösterdiği savunma mekanizmasıdır. Fizyolojik bir mekanizmanın devreye girmesini takiben, çevresel faktörlerin de etkisiyle psikolojik mekanizmaların etkili olmaya başladığı bu süreçte çok yönlü düşünülmeli, anne ve fetus sağlığını en iyi düzeyde tutmamızı sağlayan ağrıyı gidermeye yönelik teknikler etkin bir şekilde uygulanmalıdır. Bu makalede doğum ağrısına yönelik nonfarmakolojik yöntemlere ilişkin güncel bilgilerin derlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.

MEU Journal of Health Sciences Assoc was began to the publishing process in 2008 under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Gönül Aslan, Editor-in-Chief, and affiliated to Mersin University Institute of Health Sciences. In March 2015, Prof. Dr. Caferi Tayyar Şaşmaz undertook the Editor-in Chief position and since then he has been in charge.
Publishing in three issues per year (April - August - December), it is a multisectoral refereed scientific journal. In addition to research articles, scientific articles such as reviews, case reports and letters to the editor are published in the journal. Our journal, which has been published via e-mail since its inception, has been published both online and in print. Following the Participation Agreement signed with TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM Dergi Park in April 2015, it has started to accept and evaluate online publications.
