Aim: Intussusception is a major cause of childhood acute intestinal obstructions which are observed more frequently in infants. The majority of patients were treated by non-surgical methods. In this study, it was aimed to carry out retrospective evaluation of the results of the hydrostatic reduction with fluoroscopy in childhood intussusception cases. Method: The 24 patients, who were diagnosed with intussusception retrospectively between January 2013 and May 2015, were included in the study. In the study, hydrostatic reduction with the fluoroscopy process was applied to 23 intussusception patients in an operating room. Results: The 14 of the cases were male (58.3%) and 10 of them were female (41.7%) with the average age of 51.5±36.11 months. The 15 (62.5%) of the patients were in the age range of 2-5 years. While 100% of the cases had abdominal pain and vomiting, 25% of them experienced rectal bleeding. Ultrasonography results indicated target sing image in all cases. One of the patients was directly undergone surgical intervention due to the clinical contraindications. The process was performed successfully in the 20 patients (86.9%) out of 23 patients who were undergone hydrostatic reduction. Recurrence was observed in 2 patients and the hydrostatic reduction was performed in these patients successfully. Conclusions: The hydrostatic reduction with the fluoroscopy is an easy, effective and reliable method in accurately selected clinical pediatric cases with the diagnosis of intussusception. Although considering the increment in complication rates in older pediatric patients, the initial approach for intussusception treatment should be nonsurgical methods
Olguların 15’i (%62.5) 2-5 yaş aralığında idi.
