Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of depressive symptoms in Health School students with demographic characteristics, anemia, smoking, alcohol and drug use. Method: The study was carried out by the questionnaire prepared for health high school students after approval of the institutional permission and ethics committee in 2016-2017. Statistical analyzes were done by percentage analysis and t test using SPSS software. Results: In this study, depressive symptom frequency was determined as 40.6% according to the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) 17 cut-off point. It was determined that students who smoked, used alcohol, and had anemia had a significantly higher level of BDI scores than students without BDI scores. Conclusion: As a result, smoking, alcohol consumption and anemia may be related to depression.

Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinde depresif belirti sıklığının demografik özellikler,
anemi, sigara, alkol, uyuşturucu madde kullanımı ile ilişkisini belirlemek
amacı ile yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışma 2016-2017 tarihlerinde kurum izni
ve etik kurul onayı alınarak öğrenciler hazırlanan anket ile uygulanmıştır.
SPSS programı kullanılarak yüzdelik analizi ve t testi ile istatistikler
analizler yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Bu çalışmada Beck Depresyon Ölçeği
Envanteri (BDÖE) 17 kesim noktasına göre depresif belirti sıklığı 17 ve 17’nin
üzerinde olan öğrencilerin oranı %40.6 olarak belirlenmiştir. Sigara içen, alkol kullanan, anemisi olan
öğrencilerin BDÖE puanlarının içmeyen öğrencilerin BDÖE puanlarından anlamlı
düzeyde yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Sonuç olarak sigara, alkol
tüketiminin ve aneminin depresyonla ilişkili olabileceği söylenebilir.

MEU Journal of Health Sciences Assoc was began to the publishing process in 2008 under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Gönül Aslan, Editor-in-Chief, and affiliated to Mersin University Institute of Health Sciences. In March 2015, Prof. Dr. Caferi Tayyar Şaşmaz undertook the Editor-in Chief position and since then he has been in charge.
Publishing in three issues per year (April - August - December), it is a multisectoral refereed scientific journal. In addition to research articles, scientific articles such as reviews, case reports and letters to the editor are published in the journal. Our journal, which has been published via e-mail since its inception, has been published both online and in print. Following the Participation Agreement signed with TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM Dergi Park in April 2015, it has started to accept and evaluate online publications.
