Aim: The triple test is a second trimester screening test used to screen for congenital anomalies such as Neural tube defects, Down syndrome and Trisomy 18 during pregnancy. The internet is a resource that patients often use in order to better understand medical procedures. With this study, it is aimed to determine the readability levels of internet sites about triple test. Method: A total of 200 web sites were reached by the internet search engine Google using the keywords ‘triple test’ and ‘triple screen test’. Sites with less information than ten sentences, chat, forum and commercial blog sites were excluded from the study. The average readability level was analyzed using Ateşman and Bezirci-Yilmaz readability formulas. Results: Following the application of the exclusion criteria, 33 websites were suitable for evaluation. Of these, 54.5% were private clinic, 33.3% were web sites, and 9.09% were private laboratory. The readability of the web sites was moderately difficult (57.6) according to the Ateşman formula, and comprehensible to people at undergraduate degree according to the Bezirci-Yılmaz Formula (12.27). Most of the texts included information about the definition, application time and interpretation of the test results. However, in these texts, conditions that causing false positivity has not been adequately addressed. Conclusion: It has been determined that the readability level of informative texts related to triple test on web sites was low. It has been concluded that the cooperation of the effective biochemical societies and health care institutions is necessary for the revision of existing information texts.
