TIP EĞİTİMİNDE MOBİL TEKNOLOJİ DESTEKLİ ACİL UZAKTAN ÖĞRETİMİN AKADEMİK BAŞARIYA ETKİSİ

Abstract

Toplum için nitelikli koruyucu, tedavi edici ve rehabilitasyon hizmeti sunmayı amaçlayan ilgi, beceri, değer ve davranışlar konusunda yeterli ve yetkin “iyi hekimler” yetiştirmeyi hedefleyen tıp eğitimi günümüzde COVID-19 salgını nedeni ile yüz yüze eğitimden uzaktan eğitime geçmek durumunda kalmıştır. Bu geçiş yoğun olarak laboratuvar ve klinik ortamlarda eğitim gören öğrencilerin eğitimlerini çevrimiçi devam ettirme zorunluluğu doğurmuştur. Uzaktan eğitim ortamında işlenen derslerde öğrencilerin bulundukları ortamdan ziyade öğrenme, kaynaklara erişebilme ve kullanabilme özellikleri ön plana çıkmaktadır. Bu amaçla araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen “DERS” mobil uygulaması Dönem 4 Enfeksiyon ve Klinik Mikrobiyoloji dersinde mobil öğrenme ortamı olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırma süresince kullanılan mobil öğrenme ortamının öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına ve mobil öğrenme hazırbulunuşluk düzeylerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırma, tıp eğitimi alan 66 öğrenci ile 32 saatlik Dönem 4 Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları ve Klinik Mikrobiyoloji dersinde gerçekleştirilmiş ve uygulama sonrasında öğrencilerin akademik başarılarında ve mobil öğrenmeye yönelik hazırbulunuşluk düzeylerinde anlamlı farklılık olduğu tespit edilmiştir

THE IMPACT OF MOBILE TECHNOLOGY-SUPPORTED EMERGENCY REMOTE TEACHING ON SUCCESS IN MEDICAL EDUCATION

Abstract

Aiming to raise "good physicians" with adequate and distinct qualifications concerning the care, skills, values and behavior with the objective of providing protective, curative and rehabilitative services for society, medical education has had to transition from face-to-face education to distance education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This transition has brought about the obligation for students who had been trained mostly in the laboratory and clinical settings to pursue online education. Instead of the physical setting in which students are present, distance education brings learning, access to resources and the usage of these resources to the foreground. To this end, the mobile application named "DERS" (class/course in Turkish) developed by the researcher was used as the mobile learning environment for the course titled Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology offered in the fourth semester. The impact of the mobile learning environment used throughout the course of the study on academic success and mobile learning readiness levels among students was assessed. The study was conducted during the fourth year course titled Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology of 32 hours conducted with 66 medical students; significant differences in the academic success and mobile learning readiness levels among students were identified at the end of the study
