Birinci Dünya Savaşı’nda, önce İngilizler sonra Fransızlarca işgal edilen Antep’in şehre küsmüş bir
mahallesinde, 1920 yılında Bakkal Ahmet’in dördüncü çocuğu olarak dünyaya gelen Ahmet Cansunar,
zorlu geçen çocukluk döneminden sonra tıp eğitimi almak için İstanbul’a gelir. Üniversite hayatı;
ekmeğin karne ile alınabildiği, karartmaların yapıldığı İkinci Dünya Savaşı yıllarına denk düşer.
Nazi Almanya’sından kaçan Yahudi asıllı hocalardan tıp eğitimini alarak 1946 yılında İstanbul
Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’nden mezun olur. Bunu takiben Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi’nde uzmanlık
eğitimini alıp, dâhiliye uzmanı olarak doğduğu şehre döner. 1956 yılında başladığı, halka hizmet Hakka
hizmet anlayışı ile sürdürdüğü hekimlik mesleğini kesintisiz 60 yıl boyunca sürdürür. Kiminin parası
kiminin duası ilkesiyle kendisine başvuran hiçbir hastayı geri çevirmemiş, 72 dernek ve kuruluşlara
ücretsiz hizmet etmiş olan Doktor Ahmet Cansunar, sadece tıp doktoru değil aynı zamanda iyi bir
hatip, edebiyatçı, musiki hayranıdır. Her zaman gurur duyduğu üç doktor ve bir mühendis evlat
yetiştirerek onların da aynı felsefe ile halka hizmet etmesine vesile olmuştur.
Bu çalışmada, Doktor Ahmet Cansunar’ın biyografisi hazırlanmış olup, genç meslektaşlarına ilham
kaynağı olabilmesi umudu ile tanıtılması ve Türk Tıbbına hizmetlerinin yâd edilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Ahmet Cansunar was born in 1920 in Antep, Turkey into a family has six children. His father was a grocery. It was very hard time for people living in Antep, because the city was firstly invaded by the British and then French forces during the World War I. After a hard childhood time, he went to İstanbul for his university education. He got his medical education from İstanbul University. During his education, the tragic days of World War II had influenced his life. There was no money, even bread. As early as 1933 Atatürk invited numbers of prominent German Jewish professors to flee Nazi Germany and settle in Turkey. So he had taken lessons from these scholars while his medical education. After graduation medical faculty in 1946, he got his Internal Medicine residency from Cerrahpaşa Medicine Faculty. He returned to Gaziantep in 1956 and began to study at his own city. He had a great compassion for his patients and serving the community. He always wanted to help people as a doctor and the money never had been the first aim for his life. Although he had his special office, he had spent lots of time as studying for community services. He had studied volunteering for 72 social services not getting money. While working full-time, Dr. Ahmet Cansunar had found time for other leisure in his life. He was an active member in her community. He had interested in literature and liked the traditional Turkish music. This study is a biography of doctor Ahmet Cansunar. We hoped that, his life may inspire his new gratuated colleagues and also memorialize his labories for Turkish Medicine
