Year 2018, Volume: 11 Issue: 2, 74 - 81, 25.04.2018

Abstract

The purpose of
this study is to evaluate the financial performance of the Food Companies
enlisted in Istanbul Stock Exchange during a period in which the food prices
have been rising dramatically. Increasing food prices are supposed to affect
the food industry most strongly. This effect could be positive or negative.
Increasing food prices may cause higher cost and as a result lower profit for
food companies. On the other hand, consumers may go for packed food which is
comparably cheaper than fresh fruits, vegetables and meat. That would result in
higher sales and profit for food companies. To decide which result is more
possible, the food prices in Turkey between years 2012-2017 is revealed.
Financial indicators such as profit(loss) equity, total assets and sales
revenue have been used to analyze the performance of Tukaş, Ülker, Penguen,
Tat, Kerevitaş, Avod, Pınar Et and Un and Pınar Süt . Then the average of these
indicators has been calculated to represent the overall food industry. As a
result, although the food prices in Turkey have been increasing, the financial
performance of food companies has been improving. For further studies,
econometric models will be used to prove the positive effect of food prices on
the financial performance of food industry.

Artan Gıda Fiyatları Karşısında Borsa İstanbul'da İşlem Gören Gıda Firmalarının Finansal Performansının Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2018, Volume: 11 Issue: 2, 74 - 81, 25.04.2018

Abstract

Bundan
sonraki çalışmalarda amaç, gıda fiyatlarının gıda firmalarının finansal
performansına olan olumu etkisini ekonometrik modellerle ispat etmek olacaktır
