During the period of the Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II, increasing the number of soldiers and ensuring the security of regions outside of Istanbul has become an critical problem in the new organization that charges military service obligations on citizens rather as in modern states. The “Redif-i Asâkir-i Mansûre” organization was established in 1834 in order to keep the number of soldiers that the country needs ready and to prevent an economic burden on the state. Based on the study between the establishment of Aydın province in 1867 and the year 1913 when the Redif organization was abolished, the organizational process of the Redif Organization, which was abolished owing to the failures of the Balkan Wars, which played a very significant role both in maintaining order and safety of the community in the country and in boosting the regularity units in wars, will be examined. Although there are courses related to Redif unions formed in the towns and the redif organization throughout the Ottoman State, there is no study based on the Redif organization within the provincial organization in administrative terms. The purpose of the study we prepared is to reveal the link between both Redif offices and the Provincial organization and to contribute to local history studies to be conducted related to Aydın Province of the region.
