Abstract

Abstract

The Linklater method is a voice training method consisting of a series of exercises developed for the human voice to get rid of the inhibiting tension. This method, which was originally developed for acting education, aims to reveal the natural voice. The concept of natural voice is defined by the developer of the method as a voice that is in direct contact with the emotional impulse, shaped by the mind, but not inhibited by it. With the exercises applied, natural voice is provided by preventing the problems caused by the use of voice. This study aims to analyze the studies on the Linklater method in the field of voice education, in which areas of voice education the method is used, what results are obtained and whether it is a useful method in terms of voice education. In the research, all studies related to the subject of voice training were scanned by using the systematic analysis method. As a result of the research conducted with the determined keywords, a total of 54 studies in English and Turkish languages directly related to the Linklater Method were reached. 35 of these studies consist of articles, 3 of them are book chapters, 3 of them are interviews, 3 of them are book reviews and 10 of them are theses. After evaluating the abstracts/inputs of these studies, it was determined that only 4 of them were experimental studies. Care has been taken to ensure that each of the selected studies is directly related to voice training and the Linklater Method. As a result of the research, it seems that the Linklater method is used in the fields of art, therapy and language education in voice education. In addition, it is possible to say that the results of the researches using the Linklater Method in voice education are positive and it is useful to use this method in voice education in the light of the researches.
