Salgın hastalıkların yönetiminde Nesnelerin İnterneti (NİT) kullanımı: COVID-19 örneği

Year 2021, Volume: 8 Issue: 2, 169 - 177, 01.06.2021

Abstract

The use of Internet of Things (IoT) in the management of epidemics: The case of COVID-19

Year 2021, Volume: 8 Issue: 2, 169 - 177, 01.06.2021

Abstract

Introduction and Purpose: In this study, the aim is to determine the use of internet of things (IoT) in COVID-19 pandemic management with a literature review as a one of the qualitative research methodology.
Materials and Methods: 150 articles on COVID-19 pandemic management are examined by u sing Sciencedirect and Pubmed platforms, for the period between January 2020 - January 2021. Articles’ contents and network structures are obtained with VOSviewer software.
Results: Network optimization, big data flow, real-time monitoring and estimation of epidemic spread, creation of warning systems to protect social distance, classification of biomedical data and medical images related to the disease, detection of chronic patients, use of messaging systems to guide the community, planning of health workforce, telehealth services, use of big data and internet of medical objects (IoMT), security and privacy of patient data, drone technologies for monitoring pandemic and cost management have been found as the most discussed topics.
Conclusion: As a conclusion, it can be asserted that IoT has a crucial role in pandemic management and it helps to maintain social distance and take protective measures, sustain personal and commercial activities, and conduct health services. It is considered that the increase in the number of studies focusing on wearable technologies especially in monitoring the health conditions and physical activities of the elderly and chronic p atient group is important.
