LIGNEOUS CONJUNCTIVITIS IN A DANDY-WALKER SYNDROME: A RARE CASE

Year 2021, Volume: 28 Issue: 3, 515 - 517, 13.09.2021

Abstract

Ligneous conjunctivitis is a disease usually
characterized by type 1 plasminogen deficiency. As
well as being inherited, it may also be associated
with infection or trauma. It is characterized by the
woody appearance of pseudo-membranes rich in
fibrin, especially seen in the tarsal conjunctiva. İn
its treatment heparin, alpha chymotrypsin, topical
hyaluronidase, corticosteroids, cyclosporine, and
surgical excision of membranes exist. In this study, we
aimed to demonstrate the association of hydrocephalus
and ligneous conjunctivitis in a 10-month-old male
patient who had a ventricular-peritoneal shunt for
hydrocephalus.

Abstract

Lignöz konjoktivit, genellikle tip 1 plazminojen eksikliği
ile karakterize bir hastalıktır. Genetik kalıtımlı
olduğu gibi enfeksiyon veya travma ile de ilişkili
olabilir. Özellikle tarsal konjonktivada görülen odunsu
görünümde fibrinden zengin psödomembranlarla
karakterizedir. Tedavisinde; heparin, alfa kimotripsin,
topikal hiyalüronidaz, kortikosteroidler, siklosporin ve
membranların cerrahi eksizyonu yer almaktadır. Bu
çalışmada, hidrosefali nedeniyle ventrikülo-peritoneal
şant uygulanmış 10 aylık erkek hastada Dandy-
Walker spektrumuna bağlı hidrosefali ve lignöz
konjonktivit birlikteliğini göstermek amaçlanmıştır.
