Abstract

Assyria: The Imperial Mission

Abstract

Mario Liverani, who is quite competent in the field of ancient near eastern and Assyrianology, has given direction to the theorist, commentator and working in this field with the model of the "empire of networks" proposed in terms of reinterpreting imperial texts. Liverani, by adding a different dimension to the Assyrian Empire's development history and its propagation stages with the model of the networks empire, has written his name in this field. A study on Assyria is unthinkable, where Liverani is not included in a bibliography. Liverani has not only mastered this field with its valuable works, but also provided inspiration for those working in this field to focus on the subject from a different point of view. From a diachronic point of view, if we had the chance to ask the Assyrian kings their own history, they would say that Liverani was the one who wrote it in the most realistic way. In this article, Liverani's book called The Assyrian Imperial Mission will be introduced.
