Abstract

Antik dönem mezar stelleri üzerinde betimlenen simetrik karinalı ticaret gemileri adlı bu çalışmada, mezar stelleri üzerindeki gemi betimlemelerinin, hem mezar sahibinin mesleği ile ilişkisi hem de stel üzerine işlenen gemi betimlemesinin tipolojisi ve gelişimi ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Öyle ki mezar stelleri üzerinde bulunan gemilerin mezar sahibinin mesleği ile ilişkilendirilmesine yönelik olarak çalışmamızda yer alan yazıtlı stellerden bir tanesinin üzerinde “Mutlu bir şekilde 70 yıl yaşayan Phoibianos oğlu Nikomedialı denizci Koryntos selam eder” yazısı mezar sahibinin denizci olduğunu göstermekte ve geniş bir dağılım alanı olan diğer stellerdeki betimlemelerde de gemi motifinin seçilmesi aynı amaca yönelik olduğunu göstermektedir.

ANTIQUE AGE SYMMETRICAL BOTTOM OF THE TRADE SHIPS DESCRIBED AS ORNAMENT ON THE TOMB STONES

Abstract

The aim of this study is associated with not only the owner of this grave’s profession but also making the typology and development of describing the ship stele. Another important result is owner of this grave’s profession. On a stele, there was an article about the owner of the grave. This was written on the stele: “ Koryntos welcomes who was the son of phoibianos from Nikomedia lives happily 70 years” letter shows that the tomb owner and the wide range of maritime space ship motif in descriptions of the other steles that show the selection for the same purpose.
