Journals of poetry are of the important materials
which source classical literary studies. They reveal the literary likes, poets
and poems of the period they are composed. They are also important for our
literary history because they include the poems of the poets who do not have
anthology or who are unmentioned in literature. In the libraries, among the
poetry journals that are generally recorded with the name of "Mecmua-i
Eş‘âr (Journal of Poetry)" or "Mecmuatü’l Eş‘âr (Journals of Poetry)",
there are also journals that bring together certain forms and genres of verses,
especially of classical poetry. This journal of poetry, which is the subject of
our study, is registered at the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM)
Ataturk Library (İBB Atatürk Kütüphanesi) with the code of Bel_Yz_K0280. It has
32 pages. There are 71 poems at the journal. Some of the poems are written in
Syllabic verse, but most of them are written in aruz prosody. Journal is mostly
composed of ghazals. It is not organized. The poems of Arşî, Azbî, Bosnevî,
Celâlî, Kaygusuz Abdal, Niyâzî-i Mısrî, Muhîtî, Sürûrî and Vehbî take place in
the journal whose publication time and author could not be determined. The
journal is quite plain. The script does not have vowel signs (hareke). Most of
it is copied in black ink, on light brown paper, in the calligraphic style of
naskh. The journal was prepared to contribute to the Systematic Classification
of Journals Project.
