PARAOXONASE AND ARYLESTERASE ACTIVITIES IN ADULTS WITH VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY

Year 2021, Volume: 11 Issue: 3, 571 - 575, 22.09.2021

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate paraoxonase (PON-1) and arylesterase (ARE) enzyme activity and to evaluate the relationship between vitamin D level and serum lipids and Lipoprotein a (Lp (a)) in adults with vitamin D deficiency.
Materials and Methods: 43 patients with vitamin D deficiency and 37 healthy individuals with similar demographic characteristics were included in the study. A 25 (OH) D below 20 ng / mL was considered a vitamin D deficiency. PON-1, ARE enzyme activities, Lp (a) and serum I,ipid levels were compared between the groups.
Results: PON activity in patients with vitamin D deficiency was found to be lower than healthy control group. ARE activity and Lp (a) were similar between the groups. A positive correlation was observed between vitamin D and PON.
Conclusion: The vitamin D deficient group had lower PON-1 activity. It was thought that the increase in oxidative stress caused by vitamin D deficiency may be caused by the increase in LDL levels and the decrease in HDL levels together with the decrease in PON-1 activity.

D Vitamini Eksikliği Olan Yetişkinlerde Paraoksonaz ve Arilesteraz Aktiviteleri

Year 2021, Volume: 11 Issue: 3, 571 - 575, 22.09.2021

Abstract

Gruplar arasında PON-1, ARE enzim aktiviteleri, Lp (a) ve serum lipid düzeyleri karşılaştırıldı.
Bulgular: D vitamini eksikliği olan hastalarda PON aktivitesi sağlıklı kontrol grubuna göre düşük bulundu. Gruplar arasında ARE aktivitesi ve Lp (a) benzer düzeylerdeydi.
