SOSYOLOJİK BİR ARAŞTIRMA NESNESİ OLARAK DİJİTAL OYUNLAR

Abstract

Dijital oyunlar özellikle son 20 yıl içerisinde hızla büyüyen ve gelişen bir endüstri ve uğraş haline gelmiştir. Dünya üzerindeki pek çok insan basit ya da karmaşık olan çeşitli oyunları deneyimlemekte, dijital oyun satın almakta, dijital oyunlardan etkilenmekte ve sektörün gelişimine katkı sağlamaktadır. Sürekli büyüyen ve gelişen dijital oyun sektörünün toplumsal hayat üzerindeki etkilerinin de belirginleşmesi kaçınılmazdır. Sosyolojide dijital oyunların toplumsal yönüne dair çeşitli çalışmalar yapılmasına karşın, ülkemizde bu alana olan ilgi hala tatmin edici seviyede değildir. Çalışma, Türkiye’deki bu ilgisizliği kırmaya yönelik bir çabanın ürünüdür. Bu çalışmayla birlikte alana ilgili olan ve alanın potansiyellerini keşfetmek isteyen araştırmacılara katkı sağlamak amaçlanmaktadır. Dijital oyunların çoğu durumda tek taraflı ve küçümseyici bir tavırla incelenmesi, onun sosyolojik yönlerinin yeteri kadar anlaşılmamasıyla sonuçlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada dijital oyunlar, sosyoloji için önemli bir araştırma nesnesi olarak konumlandırılmakta ve dijital oyunların toplum ve sosyal ilişkiler konusunda bizlere neler söyleyebileceği tartışılmaktadır. Ayrıca bu çalışmada; dijital oyunlar üzerine yapılan çalışmaların teorik ve metodolojik temeli ortaya konacak, hangi konuların çalışıldığı ya da göz ardı edildiği sorgulanacaktır. Çalışma, İngilizce kaynakların ağırlıklı olduğu literatüre dayalı nitel bir çalışmadır. Çalışmada sosyolojik teori ve metodolojinin dijital oyunları anlamamız konusunda önemli katkılarının olduğunu; fakat sosyolojik açıdan katkı sağlayabilecek pek çok inceleme alanının göz ardı edildiği gözlemlenmiştir.
