Environmental gerontology, which is a basic discipline in aging studies, was discussed around the ecological perspective in the first years, and recently it has been discussed by taking the critical perspective to the center. One of the underlying reasons for this is that today's cities have begun to take shape around Neoliberal policies. In cities produced with neoliberal rationality, the meaning of quality of life is shaped by consumption and existing inequalities are getting deeper. It is seen that the elderly are among those affected by these inequalities. Today's Neoliberal political economy is reshaping aging through poverty and disadvantage. But in urban matters, the elderly are often an invisible subject. In this study, the relationship between aging and space is discussed by bringing together the perspectives and opportunities offered by the disciplines of urban sociology and gerontology. It focuses on creating a theoretical link between the two disciplines and discussing the current situation in this context. Finally, rights-based approaches are discussed as a solution proposal against the social and spatial context that this view points to.
