Eastern Mediterranean geography, which has been the center of many civilizations throughout history; It has been in an important position in commercial, economic and geopolitical axes. With the "energy" dimension, the region has once again turned into a competitive arena in the regional and global sense. In particular, regional actors have made moves in order to get a larger share from the Eastern Mediterranean energy basin. In the legal context, the titles of the exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf have created another dimension of competition in order for the parties to protect their rights. However, in addition to the moves of the regional actors on the legal ground, the Eastern Mediterranean basin has been in a strategic position for Turkey. This study aims to focus on four perspectives within this general framework. The first is to analyze the geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the Eastern Mediterranean. The second is the evaluation of the discussions focusing on the exclusive economic zone and maritime jurisdictions. Third, the approaches of regional actors (Turkey, TRNC, Greek Cypriot Administration of Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Egypt and Syria) in the Eastern Mediterranean policies are discussed. The fourth is seeking an answer to the question of why the Eastern Mediterranean is important for Turkey.
