Abstract

Bu makalede Kenya Cumhuriyeti çocuk koruma sistemi yasal arka planı ile ele alınmış

ve güncel ulusal çocuk koruma sisteminin resmi çekilmiştir. Birleşmiş Milletler Çocuk Hakları

Sözleşmesi’ne taraf devlet olan Kenya’da her ne kadar makro politikalar ve yasalar eskiye göre

daha gelişmiş ve kapsayıcı olsa da önemli boşluklar ve sorunlar bulunmaktadır. Bu boşluklar,

doğum kayıtlarının yetersizliği, yetersiz sayıda insan kaynağı, sosyal hizmetlere kısıtlı erişim

gibi konular hakkında olup, işlevsel bir çocuk koruma sisteminin tesisine engel olmaktadır.

Bahsi geçen sorunlar bu makalede sağlık, eğitim, güvenlik ve çocuk korumada alternatif bakım

yöntemleri alt başlıkları ile ele alınmıştır. Araştırmacı, 2017 yılında başkent Nairobi Makimei

Çocuk Evinde gönüllü sosyal hizmet uzmanı olarak bulunmuştur. Belirtilen çocuk evindeki

çocuk bakım ve korumanın betimlenmesinin de ulusal çocuk koruma sisteminin uygulamaya

yansımasını göstermek amacı ile eklenmesi uygun görülmüştür.
