Abstract
At the present time, rapidly changing technology increases the necessity of human capital and qualified manpower in the construction of society. One of the most important resources that play a key role for Turkey to reach its future goals is individuals with special talents. In the article, first of all, the process of recognition of gifted individuals, who are the driving force of social development, and the importance of the family institution in gifted individuals are emphasized. Giving the necessary trainings in line with their abilities, adaptation processes with the social environment they are in, and attributing meaning to gifted individuals by the society were also considered as important issues. The role of educators and the importance of establishing the desired social structure in these ways are also emphasized. The results of the study were prepared in line with the assumptions obtained as a result of literature review and preliminary interviews with the participants. In this context, in this research, it has been tried to determine how these individuals can direct their own future and the future of the society by taking the opinions of gifted individuals, their families, teachers responsible for their education and the social environment. In the analyzes, on the other hand, it is aimed to reveal understanding, not explanation. A multiple method strategy was followed in the study. For this purpose, the questionnaire study was applied face-to-face and in the second part of the questionnaire, the participants' degree of participation was asked, and an evaluation was made with a Likert scale-like question type and item analysis strategy. According to the results of the research, the participants are aware of the purposes for which BILSEMs provide training. However, they think that BILSEM exams should be announced and parents should be involved in the process. In addition, there is no significant opinion that BILSEM’s can fulfill the requirements of the society and it has been determined that gifted students are not seen superior to other individuals in the society. Although there is a deficiency in the special/gifted perceptions of the students, it can be said that they want to act freely without concentrating on the fields of art, medicine and engineering. With the obtained data it is aimed to contribute to the scientific studies to be carried out on this subject.
