Abstract

Optical Luminosity Function of the Abell 1589 Galaxy Cluster

Year 2023, Volume: 4 Issue: 3 - Special Issue: Proceedings of the 22nd National Astronomy Congress, 184 - 187, 31.12.2023

Abstract

The optical photometric observations with the Russian-Turkish 1.5-m RTT-150 telescope are presented for Abell 1589 (z=0.0709), an irregular galaxy cluster in a dynamical state. Magnitudes of each cluster member galaxy (20${\leqslant}M_r{\leqslant}$23) determined for the g$^\prime$, r$^\prime$ and i$^\prime$ filters and presented the (g$^\prime$-r$^\prime$) vs r$^\prime$ color-magnitude diagram of Abell 1589. We generated the Luminosity Function (Luminosity Function-LF) of galaxies for each filter. For each filter, the resulting LF of cluster galaxies is well-fitted by the Schechter+Schechter Function. The best-fitting parameter values derived as the characteristic absolute magnitudes are -20.02${\pm}$0.06 and -18.73${\pm}$0.01, -20.91${\pm}$0.05 and -20.34${\pm}$0.02, -21.57${\pm}$0.06 and -21.05${\pm}$0,06 and the slope at the faint end of the LF are -1.58${\pm}$0.06 and -0.74${\pm}$0.02, -1.65${\pm}$0.04 and -0.78${\pm}$0.02, -1.62${\pm}$0.04 and -0.78${\pm}$0.04 for g$^\prime$, r$^\prime$ and i$^\prime$ filters, respectively.
