Serebrovasküler olay ile prezente olan COVID-19 vakası

Abstract

A case of COVID-19 presenting with a cerebrovascular event

Year 2023, Volume: 4 Issue: 1, 46 - 48, 30.01.2023

Abstract

Although SARS-CoV-2 mainly causes disease in the respiratory system, it can affect many systems, including the neurological system. Disease-related cerebrovascular event may develop at a rate of up to 6% during or after the course of COVID-19, and this usually causes ischemia and rarely hemorrhage. However, cases who applied to the hospital with the clinic of cerebrovascular event and were diagnosed with COVID-19 have been rarely reported in the literature. With this case report; it is aimed to bring COVID-19 to mind and contribute to the literature in patients who are admitted to the hospital with neurological complaints such as loss of strength, blurred consciousness and who are diagnosed with ischemic SVO, even if there are no respiratory symptoms. In this way, it was emphasized that it should always be remembered that COVID-19 can present with a wide range of symptoms, and it is useful to suspect COVID-19, especially in patients in the cerebrovascular event clinic, even if there are no respiratory symptoms.
