Öz

The battle, which took place on the banks of the Granicus River in 334 BC, was Alexander the Great's first major victory over the Persians and a critical turning point in the beginning of his Asian campa-ign. However, this important battlefield has not been sufficiently analyzed in ancient studies. This is mainly due to the fact that no detailed archaeological survey has been conducted in the region so far. In addition, there is ongoing academic debate about the routes taken by the armies before and after the battle. To address these uncertainties, an archaeological survey was initiated in 2022 to determine the exact location of the battlefield. The studies conducted between 2022 and 2024 show that the battle took place further south of the plain, contrary to what was previously thought. In addition, ancient sources have strengthened the view that the hill where the last phase of the battle took place may be Höyükbayırı Tepe. In addition, Çiğdem Tepe on Hisarlı Village is thought to be Hermaion, Alexander's last camping place as he advanced from Arisbe to Granikos.

2022-2024 GRANİKOS SAVAŞ ALANI YÜZEY ARAŞTIRMALARI YENİ BULGULAR YENİ SONUÇLAR

Öz

MÖ 334 yılında Granikos Irmağı kıyısında gerçekleşen savaş, Büyük İskender’in Perslere karşı kazandığı ilk büyük zafer olup, Asya seferinin başlangıcında kritik bir dönüm noktasıdır. Ancak bu önemli savaş alanı, eski çağ araştırmalarında yeterince incelenmemiştir. Bunun başlıca nedeni, şimdiye kadar bölgede detaylı bir arkeolojik yüzey araştırması yapılmamış olmasıdır. Ayrıca, savaş öncesinde ve sonrasında orduların izlediği güzergâhlar konusunda da akademik tartışmalar devam etmektedir. Bu belirsizlikleri gidermek amacıyla 2022 yılında savaş alanının tam konumunu belirlemek için bir arkeolojik yüzey araştırması başlatılmıştır. 2022-2024 yılları arasında yapılan çalışmalar, savaşın daha önce düşünülenin aksine ovanın daha güneyinde gerçekleştiğini göstermektedir. Ayrıca, antik kaynaklarda savaşın son safhasının yaşandığı tepenin Höyükbayırı Tepe olabileceği görüşü güçlenmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra, Hisarlı Köyü üzerindeki Çiğdem Tepe’nin, İskender’in Arisbe’den Granikos’a ilerlerken son kamp yeri olan Hermaion olduğu düşünülmektedir.
