Different models have been developed for children in need of protection. A new service model for our country is the model of children's houses. The purpose of this research is to set the dynamics of the relations established by the children who stay at child home with their environment. Therefore, data relating to the social-demographic features and protection processes of the children who stay at child home have been collected and issues including children’s relations with their families, their relations within the child home system, their relations with the systems out of the house, social activities they attend are discussed. The research is designed as a quantitative research. Interview form, developed by the researcher, was applied in quantitative section of the research to 101 children of ages ranging between 12 - 18, who stay at child home in İzmir. It was seen that %77,2 of the children who stay at child home was taken under protection although both of their parents were alive. Also, %51,1 of these children stated that they are not in contact with their mothers while %45,1 of them stated that they are not in contact with their fathers. In addition, the percentage of children, not being in contact with their relatives, is close to 50% . There is a significant relationship between the frequency of being in contact with relative and the time they spend under protection. As a result, a multidisciplinary approach is needed to carry out vocational studies involving children, families, children's homes and environmental systems in order to increase the systems in which children are involved and to improve these relationships in a positive sense.
