The emergence of the social work discipline, which has its roots in the past, dates back to the 19th century. In the early stages of its emergence, it was widely debated whether social work discipline was a scientific field. Leading social workers of the period played an important role in the acceptance of the discipline of social work as a discipline by basing social work practices on evidence in this period when the science of the profession was discussed extensively. As in other disciplines, it is possible to accept the discipline of social work as a branch of science by establishing evidence-based practices and theories. This study examines the social evidence model used in the first period of social work science. Therefore, this study reveals the evidence-based basis that provides the environment for the acceptance of social work discipline as a scientific field.
