Abstract

Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the perceptions of teachers in high schools in Erzincan towards the concept of quiet quitting according to their opinions. Qualitative research method was used in this study to determine the perceptions of teachers towards the concept of quiet quitting. Phenomenology has also been used as a research design. Data were collected through interviews, one of the data collection techniques in qualitative research. In order to collect the data of the research, 18 teachers working in different high schools in Erzincan were interviewed. The research data were analyzed using content analysis. The quiet quitting perception of the teachers was discussed. The reasons and the solutions offered by the teachers were analyzed. Most of the participants have a negative perception of quiet quitting. It was revealed that the teachers experienced the quiet quitting process. Some of them have emphasized that they have experienced this process in the first years of their profession and some in the last days of their profession. Experiencing this process was mostly caused by the manager, the system and the lack of value. In addition, the absence of professional excitement, the person's unwillingness to tire himself out and lack of supervision are also among the important findings highlighted. Teachers expressed that there was an excessive workload, the profession affects the work-life balance and there are tedious jobs outside of their duties. Among the suggestions to prevent teachers from quiet quitting are paying attention to selection of administrator, understanding that education is a priority and the teacher's self-renewal. It is necessary for school principals determining the methods helping teachers understand their emotional world and to take care to understand them. It should not be ignored that financial is not important in the teaching profession and socio-emotional situations are at the forefront.
