Although there are exceptions, there is a tendency of the converts to marginalize their previous religion, civilization and culture, and Maryam Jameelah is not one of these exceptions. Jameelah, who spent a significant part of her life in the West, has a sharp and traditional understanding of Islam. The dominant theme in her works is the reckoning with the West in the context of materialism, orientalism and modernism, which is also the center of her views. For, according to her, Western civilization challenges all religious and spiritual values. For this reason, she often tries to show the superiority of Islam by comparing Islam and the West. Jameelah, who makes an emotional reading like most converts, does not direct her sharply critical approach towards Islamic thought as she does against the West. In the study based on the qualitative data obtained from the literature review, the reasons for this approach of Jameelah and the factors that are effective in the formation of her views were examined by documentary analysis method. The study deals with the perception of the other reflected in Jameelah works within the scope of Western thought.
