London School of Economics’te Uluslararası İlişkiler profesörü ve Ortadoğu Merkezi’nin kurucusu olan Fawaz A. Gerges, Arap siyaseti ve Ortadoğu’daki sosyal hareketlere dair yaptığı çalışmaların bir devamı olarak nitelendirdiği Making the Arab World: Nasser, Qutb, and the Clash That Shaped the Middle East başlıklı kitabında, İslamcılık ile Arap nasyonalizmi arasındaki çatışmanın post-kolonyal Arap siyasetini nasıl şekillendirdiğini açıklamayı hedeflemektedir.
