Determination of Electric Field Strength Level in a Medium using Time Series Analysis

Abstract

In parallel with technological developments wireless systems have become
indispensable parts our daily life, and dense use of these systems the number
of base stations in environment and thus the exposed electromagnetic radiation
(EMR) levels has also increased. Accurate measurement, evaluation and control
of compliance with established limit values of the exposed EMR levels has
become even more important than before in terms of human/vital health. In
addition, due to the increase in EMR resources, it is essential to develop the
model that will be used to determine the future values of the EMR levels. Therefore,
in this study, 24 hour electric field strength (E) measurements were carried
out in a shopping mall in order to determine the level of EMR exposure and
their statistical properties were determined. Then the time series analysis is
applied to the measurement results and the change of the E level in the
environment is modeled by moving averages and the E value one day later is
estimated based on this model. It has been determined that the estimated E
value is very close to the real values. In addition, by using the proposed
model, the future values of E in an environment can be estimated and these
values can be used for environments with similar conditions.

Bir Ortamdaki Elektrik Alan Şiddetinin Zaman Serisi Analizi ile Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Teknolojik
gelişmelerle birlikte hayatımızın vazgeçilmez unsurları haline gelen kablosuz
sistemlerin yoğun kullanımı nedeniyle yaşam alanlarımızdaki Baz istasyonu
sayısı ve buna bağlı olarak maruz kalınan elektromanyetik radyasyon (EMR)
seviyeleri de artmıştır. Maruz kalınan EMR seviyelerinin doğru bir biçimde
ölçülmesi, değerlendirilmesi ve belirlenen limit değerlere uygunluğunun kontrol
edilmesi insan/canlı sağlığı açısından eskisinden daha da önemli hale
gelmiştir. Ayrıca EMR kaynaklarının her geçen gün artması nedeniyle, EMR
seviyelerinin gelecek değerlerinin belirlenmesinde kullanılacak modelin
geliştirilmesi elzemdir. Bu nedenle bu çalışmada, maruz kalınan EMR seviyesini
belirlemek üzere insanların yoğun olarak bulunduğu bir alışveriş merkezinde bir
hafta süresince 24 saatlik elektrik alan şiddeti (E) ölçümleri
gerçekleştirilmiş ve istatistiksel özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Ardından ölçüm
sonuçlarına zaman serisi analizi uygulanarak ortamdaki E seviyesinin değişimi
hareketli ortalamalar ile modellenmiş ve bir gün sonraki E değeri bu modele
dayanılarak tahmin edilmiştir. Sonuçlardan tahmin edilen E değerinin gerçeğe
oldukça yakın olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca önerilen modelin kullanımı ile bir
ortamdaki E’nin gelecekte alabileceği değerler belirlenebilir ve bu değerler
benzer koşullardaki ortamlar için de kullanılabilir.
