Abstract
In the Turkish-Islamic tradition, tradition of mavlid has a great importance in terms of expressing the ontological position of the Prophet, his moral value and the love for him. Shamsaddīn al- Sivāsī’s Mavlid is at the forefront of the mavlid type works that have been read for centuries in Anatolia, especially in Sivas and its environs. In this work, Sivāsī, in the context of the idea of unity of existence, it deals with the ontological position and moral competence of the Prophet. Sivāsī, deals with the concept as, nur al-Muhammadī, af’āl, manifestations of adjectives and essence, the appearance of God, the value he gives to human beings, His understanding of ingenuity, miracles of the Prophet, his discourse that his light appears at every moment, the Prophet’s emphasis on the importance of navigating with his light, his evaluations about the spiritual dimension of ascension and his evaluations within the framework of concepts such as fanā, baqa, jam‘, farq, love, enthusiasm. He has revealed his ideas about the ontological position of the Prophet and his value in the eyes of God. Sivāsī, in the Qur’an, some verses pointing to the value of the Prophet, he frequently emphasizes the importance of following the Sunnah of the Prophet, is chaste, loyal, generous and smiling, does not get angry for the world, is patient, accepts apologies, does not talk nonsense, eats little, visits the sick, is humble, takes care of orphans, He conveyed his thoughts about the Prophet’s morality as a perfect human being, with descriptions of the Prophet, such as sleeping, being prudent, possessing modesty and being resigned, fond of worship and obeying the law of war. In the article, Sivāsī’s considering the balance that the Prophet established between his spiritual and physical aspects, his evaluations of the Prophet are discussed in the context of his work called Mavlid. Sivāsī’s ontological and moral evaluations of the Prophet, some names that were influenced by the representatives of the idea of unity of existence and mawlid authors were also emphasized.
